The light of the dissability

I often find myself trapped into a state where i am enjoying a set thing and in enjoying it i completely put myself into it. One activity that i was enjoying was known as special olympics. My job is to interact with students with disabilities and play sports with them like soccer, basketball, or track. I find so much joy in this job and would gladly be there when asked to be there. The smiles on these kids faces created peace in me and made me happy. The strength these young kids have is so admorable. They know they are different from other kids in many ways but they never let it drag them down. I have so much respect and joy with them and i feel so excited when i leave to go play a sport with them. Sometimes it gets hard, mainly because of three reasons. 1.) the first reason it can get hard is because there are times where they lose hope and get upset. The trick to work through that is by encouraging them. letting them know that they are doing great and never give up. this will build their confidence, allowing smiles to resurface again. 2.) The second reason why it is hard at times is because when your playing a sport with them you have to remember who you are playing with and can't play to rough. I remember i was playing with them at soccer. now thats my sport so i started getting into it. I smashed the ball hard. It flew right into one of the kids fourhead. I felt so bad but the kid ate the blow and kept playing. so it was hard to play because now im worrying about hurting any of them. The trick to work through that is by letting them play more, so i have to pass them the ball more and aviod trying to score. 3.) The third reason it can get hard is because there are times where they cant focus. When that happens they ignor what is being done and create hug amounts of noise. The way to work through this is by talking to them lightly and telling them to calm down and pay attention. There are times where you have to raise your voice alittle but not too much. These kids are just like every other human being. They understand whats being said to them and have hearts that feel emotions as well. Many people treat kids with dissabilities like they are dismissive, but they are not. they are human just like you and me. They have feelings and its wrong to treat them like they cant do anything. I vouch for the dissability and i will continue to be by their sides. God blessed the world with these kids and i am so glad to help them live a life where they could just be themselves. I enjoy what i do and i will continue to persue it
