Blog I Fighting For More Then Ourselves
This week I was given the honor to participate in a dodge ball tournament. This tournament was for us kids to not only have a good time but to give some of our cloth's for a just cause. The perpose of this was to raise enough clothing to donate to the Red Cross.
This tournament had about six teams and each team had about six people in total. Each team would then compete against each other. Each team had two tries to stay in the tournament. My team won two matches in a row then went against some strong teams.
We went into the semi finals but lost. We were not upset because we had a great time participating in the tournament and helping in a cause that matters.

Blog V The Investment of Life
The Primary definition of Investment is the investing of money or capital in order to gain profitable returns, as interest, income, or appreciation in value. Investment to me is saving money up for the things that are worth wild. Sometimes in life we try to invest for like a car or a house but there are things in life that is even greater.
These are the things that you would invest your life for. These are your dreams, goals and accomplishments. So yes Investing in money is the ability to save up money for the things you want but investing the things that are worth all of your fight is even better. Investing in your life, your happiness is all you need.
Two other words that I learned this week were compelled and unsustainable.
Compelled means to force or to drive someone to do something
Unsustainable means to not be supported or maintained.

Blog B What I Am Thankful For
The things that I am most thankful for is having a family that loves me through all my ups and downs. The lord has blessed me with such a great mother. He granted me the kind of mother who will tell me when I am wrong and teach me how to be a better man. She was there for me through all the bad times and loved me after. Without her I would probably never be able to be where I am right now. She set the path I needed to follow in order for me to create my foundation and I will use the path given to me to succeed in all my goals.
The last thing I am thankful for is my younger siblings. We fought, argued, laughed, and cried together. They look up to me and as the oldest I must be a great role model for them to follow so that when they get older they may follow the right path just as I did. With this they will be able to succeed in all of their dreams. I am especially thankful to God for letting me stay united with my birth brother. He will always be my Right hand man and I will always and forever have his back.
These are the things that I hold dear to my heart and will never let go. Without them I would probably be a different person. They are my strength and my knowledge; together we can succeed in anything. It indeed takes a village to raise a child.

Blog A Families Love
This week is a week of thanks for many families. So for me I will be spending time with my family, enjoying our time and creating memories that will never be forgotten. Helping my mother cook thanksgiving meal and watching movies with my younger siblings and sleeping will relieve me from all types of stress.
Another thing that relieved me of my stress without effort is just coming home. The feeling of being home with my family has made me feel calm and peaceful. As I walked through the house I could picture all the memories I had in my house. The struggles, the fights, and the happy times as well. It all made me smile and I was actually happy to be home. It truly showed how much I missed everyone.
Even though I will have a good time this thanksgiving I know I have to still prepare for finals. My family is the type of family who will be glad to help me do my work and prepare for tests. We are one pulse, when one person needs help we all are there to help out. So no matter what I will be ready for my finals but will always remember to come back home in order to relax and wind down.

Blog I My Passionate Week
This week was an emotional week for me. Mainly because of the fact that I was watching a movie called Hunger Games. This movie was full of excitement and passion. I watched the movie before but for some reason it had an impact on me this time too.
Living a life of war at a young age these kids in the movie were trained with certain skills by their parents and friends. Every year a child was chosen from each district to participate in a fight to the death. There will only be one winner from a district to win. This little girl was chosen to participate but the main character wouldn’t let that happen because that’s her sister. She took her sister place instead. The battle began and many kids died instantly. It was something that made me wonder why people would do this to kids. I remember that it was a movie and calmed down. Well at least until I saw the most sad scene ever.
There was this little girl and she was the smartest girl ever. She was the one who hid really well and couldn’t be found. I thought she might make it to the end but I was wrong. She began to help the main character in the battles and got caught. The main character got her out and they hugged as much as long as they can, then another kid comes and shoots the little girl with an arrow. She dies slowly but surely while the main character sings to her. The main character gets up and puts up district elevens symbol up which made them go berserk and fight against the security. That scene made me cry.
I began to think about how our lives are now. In some countries there are kids who are trained at young ages so they can be assistance to the military. These kids are also being killed. It makes me sad but at the same time made me appreciate the life I live now. That is what my week was like and what I learned.

Blog BThe Creativity Of My Video Draft
The way I am going to make my video project draft creative is by making a comic strip of a person going through the struggles of studying abroad and learning to figure out what it takes to continue further in the process. Sometimes it is hard for a person to truly see if they are dedicated to pursue something. The comic strip will continue but jump into him actually in another country learning different cultures and habits. AS he goes into the shoes of people from other countries he begins to see why he fought so hard to be a part of this process.
After the comic strip it would lead to another interview with a student who got the chance to go to another country and see what it was like to study abroad. He will tell us how his experience was and also explain to us what struggles he mainly had with studying abroad. His experience will give us a different side of studying abroad that the last guy didn’t. That way we can see on a double sided lens that gives two different views.

Blog A Video Draft of Studying Abroad
For my video draft I will go to the studying abroad office to talk to one of the students who are studying abroad in order to gain exact information of what studying abroad is and what it consist of. Sometimes it is better to get direct evidence from a person who has been doing this for so long that way we wouldn’t have to worry about false information. Using this information I would be able to explain studying abroad to my viewers so that they can either get inspired or understand what is being said.
Then I will talk to an international study abroad student. They are students from other countries who came here to visit our country in order to get an understanding of what our culture is and how we take care of ourselves. I want to interview this student and hope he can describe the struggles he went through and what solutions he took in order to make studying abroad work for him.
These two aspects will not only help me see the importance studying abroad is but also see what it takes to accomplish the field. Studying abroad not only allowed you to walk into someone else’s shoes but also let you see the things they go through so that maybe you can make a difference.

Blog V The Hands Of Life
The Dictionary definition of Purpose is the reason that something exist or is done. Now a person’s purpose is completely unknown to that person until the day they must fulfill it. Purpose has a way of worrying the mind and confusing the spirit. I say this because as humans we feel we need to accomplish something that could make a change but when stacks are against us and problems occur we begin to worry what our purpose is. We then focus so much of our energy trying to figure it out or fretting about it we begin to stop moving in the pace we were in until we are at a standstill. In other words we stop taking care of our responsibilities because we are worrying about our purpose too much.
Once that happens some of us begin to confuse our spirits. This makes the person take roads that have nothing but dead ends. That means the person begins to make poor chooses that can change the aspects of how the person lives.
Im not saying that wondering what our purpose is will harm us im just saying spending most of your time focusing on it and forgetting what you are suppose to be doing will hinder your ability to fulfill that purpose because you put yourself in a bad situation. Purpose can either heal the world and lives in it or destroy one person because of the knack of curiosity. Curiosity killed the cat.
Two other words that I learned this week was Semblance and Paradoxically
Semblance means an outward outlook or appearance.
Paradoxically means to have the nature of a paradox, self-contradictory.

Whats The Importance They Say Blog A
The dictionary definition of Liberal Arts Education is Liberal Education is an approach to learning that empowers individuals and prepares them to deal with complexity, diversity, and change. It provides students with broad knowledge of the wider world (e.g. science, culture, and society) as well as in-depth study in a specific area of interest. Liberal Arts Education is here to inspire kids and prepare them for the new change that is sure to come, especially since it could be overwhelming to start in college. It also gives the upcoming students the opportunity to express their feelings and exploit new ideas that may benefit other students as well as the world.
It also gives students the chances to figure out what they want to experience and pursue. There are plenty of students who come into college not knowing what they want to do, let alone know who they are. They come to college to find themselves, meet themselves then know themselves, so Liberal arts education could help them to discover exactly that.
Liberal Arts Education also gives students a broader amount of skills to use for their careers. Say if someone already chooses what they wanted to take as a major, exposing them to new things that they never thought of. An example of that is how I already chose my major but I was exposed to studying abroad. Now I am interested in researching it more to see if it would be something that I would like to do.
Rebecca Chopp’s expressed the same feeling as I do about liberal arts education she said “Liberal arts are founded on a whole person, developing a person athletically and academically. Liberal arts are going international. The 21st century is one of entrepreneurship and innovation. There will not be fixed careers. The liberal art teaches you to think outside the box.” I agree with what she was trying to say. The reason I understand is because sometimes people have a problem with doing courses that don’t pertain to what their major is but I don’t. I see these courses as extra skills I could use to make myself better. These skills will eventually come in handy when the time comes. The future is the unexpected, so embrace liberal arts because it could make your life one with many possibilities.

Interdisciplinary Perspective Blog V
Interdisciplinary Perspective is defined as a person being knowledgeable and skilled in their discipline. It’s kind of like the process of finding the right teacher for the right subject. A person who studies history in teaching would be the best suited to become a history teacher to teach students.
Sometimes a person who is knowledgeable at multiple things can help teach multiple subjects, but I haven’t seen that in all the years I been in schools. In place of that they have a system called substitute teachers. These are people who know multiple subjects. These teachers are willing to sub in for a teacher in a certain subject if they are absent.
This shows that the interdisciplinary perspective of a teacher is the subject they teach and know the most about.
Two other words that I learned in class this week were Trivial and Sustained
Trivial is of very little interest and value. Something that deems insignificant.
Sustained means to support or bear the weight of something

Would You Follow World of Education or World of Bussiness Blog B
1.) To you what is the core conflict between the educators world compared to the business world? And do you think that children should be taught to be innovation ready or college ready?
To me the core conflict between the educator’s world and the business world is the fact that even though you get a degree in something doesn’t mean you have what it takes to make the field of work you are trying to get. If you think about it there are many students who graduate from college but still can’t get and maintain a job. The reason for that is because employers who are in charge aren’t looking for a person who just knows the knowledge of the job but a person who can perform all aspects of the job. Education is the key yes but in the eyes of experience and innovation it kneels, in other words you can have the knowledge of many things in life which can allow you to make ideas and help advance the minds of others you meet but without the experience to perform you will only be all talk. Anthony Grafton spoke of the abilities that innovation provides, he said “College is to nourish a world of intellectual culture; that is, a world of ideas, dedicated to what we can know scientifically, understand humanistically, or express artistically.” He was trying to explain that college isn’t a bad place to learn but it should allow us to express the talents we possess but use it to succeed in our careers. Sometimes actions speak louder than words, which sparks the next question. Do you think that children should be taught to be innovation ready or college ready?
In schools we are trying to get ready for the real world and all the baggage it holds. In order to do that, we must have as many skills and experiences as we can get, so we can accomplish that goal. To me schools should teach both aspects. Teach kids to be innovative but also knowledgeable. That way a child can learn to be knowledgeable and wise at the same time.
The reason why most employers believe that kids should be taught the aspects needed to do business is because sometimes having brains can slow you down, especially since that’s all you tried to develop. It’s one thing to be book smart buts an entirely different thing to be streets smart. For example: I have a girlfriend that I have been with since middle school. Her whole entire life being in school she has gotten straight A’s in her classes but she never truly learned how to be street smart as well as social smart. A majority of our relationship was one big lesson for her. Now it’s been five years and she trying to find who she is and what she wants to do. She had all the knowledge she needs but she didn’t know how to live. So it made it harder for her to do things on her own.
Sometimes it’s harder to be wise then to be knowledgeable. I say this because knowledge was introduced to us since we became one, so knowledge is all we know. It became a part of us and made us want to develop it but in some cases for certain people they weren’t allowed to experience the real world all in itself. That being said they don’t know how to act socially or perform at a business type of setting, but if you teach them to be wise and knowledgeable, in other words innovative and smart they will have all the skills needed to go far beyond what is expected of them.

Blog I Competition Of The Ages
Wednesday, November 13 at 7:30 i was giving the opportunity to participate in a talent competition. Students with all sorts of talents were chosen to compete in this competition but only three can win the grand prizes. The first place winner would gain $350 and the second and third place winners will gain $150. It was one memorable and inspirational event that I would never forget.
For the first time I was starting an event with my talent. I was the second act and knew it would be one crazy time. I wasn’t nervous but was extremely excited. Even though my excitement made me lose the event I was happy I participated. I was able to see all sorts of talents from magic to singer and drummers. Each and every one of them inspired me to continue to fight with my talents even more so that I may become the best I can become so I can inspire others the way I want to.
The best part of the whole event was when my cousin surprised me and sang a song as an adjudged performer. When he walked on the stage I saw a confidence in him I thought I would never see. He worked the audience with such ease and sang with all of his heart. I was proud of him and jealous at the same time but will always cheer him on. That was how my Wednesday went. Time worth preparing for is time that will forever be etched in history forever.

Innovation Blog V
The primary definition of Innovation is something new being introduced. Innovation is the center of influence and experience. The concepts of society have always been to create and introduce new things that can help us change our world. So in order to create this change we needed 1.) An idea to be thought up using influence, 2.) To organize your ideas with experience, and then finally to use innovation to introduce the idea to the public or your bosses so that the change can be initiated.
Sometimes innovation can be difficult to do because of the fear of your idea being a failure or not enough to completely make a change in the world. The point though is that innovation is introducing an idea to everyone but without the process of influence and experience innovation wouldn’t be put to practice.
Two more words that I learned in class this week is Feeble and Hymnal
Feeble means to be week and fragile
Hymnals are books with holy songs for services of the church.

The Beauty Of Art Blog I
One day when I was in work I was asked to make a delivery over in Earl hall on campus. I never went to earl hall so I wasn’t really prepared for what was about to hit me. When I walked in I saw the most beautiful display I have ever seen in my life. There was nothing but a beautiful display of art all across the whole building. The pieces looked as if a person jumped into the painting and created the painting into life.
The shading was perfect as well as the details of the person they made. It was a man on a pair of drums and the background fitted the emotion of the painting. I can see the feelings of the painter through his or her piece because after all The beauty of art is in the fingertips of the painter.

Words By The Rest Is Unwritten Blog B
Looking at The Blogger “The Rest Is Still Unwritten” I believe that their questions are in fact great test and quiz questions. I say this because they make you think, not just in a knowledgeable way but also in a personal way as well. It forces you to look at certain issues in a different way. I know for a fact that the questions allow you to find a different aspect to the questions that you never thought you could see.
The question that caught my eye the most was question number four. It said “how does the creative industry hold people who are creative Ransom to their own self image?” I like this question because it not only connects personally to me but it also made people think about how the industries are. The steps the industries take to create an artist or creative person in to the star they are now. Is it because of the creative person’s arts or is it the image they could portray to the fans who watch?
It also reminds me about the things that have been happening in the industries. Think of the word ransom. The word ransom generally means to hold captive. So that being said could it be possible that the industries have been holding the artist talents captive and only have been trying to promote their appearance rather than the talents they could portray. This question opens your mind to the different possibilities and forces you to say what if?

Whos Questions Blog A
Questions: 1.) What can be the link or battle between inspiration and experience? How does it protein to you in your life and in college?
2.) What sort of limitations do you think you have? Do you allow it to affect you, or do you feel the need to overcome it? Do you think in our society limitations play a role in life that many never try to pass?
3.) Can Eureka moments give you the push needed to create new ideas and thoughts? If so how could that help you think of new ideas?
4.) What does the overnight test consist of and would you take the test? Why would you take the test? and what would it mean to you?
5.) What would you prefer most? The overnight test or the lunch test/ explain why?
Answer to question # 1: First of all the link between the two words Inspiration and experience is the ability to make new changes that could benefit society but the battle between the two words goes far beyond just being different. Inspiration is the influence to cultivate the ideas in a creative way that may make difference or inspire the minds of other people.
While experience is encountering a certain issue in life that teaches you to make certain decisions. Many people use this experience to teach others the right path to walk. For example: Parents use their experiences to teach their children to make right decisions and how to learn from their mistakes. So I ask you? How can Inspiration and experience be put hand in hand to make a difference?
Inspiration is the ability to cultivate ideas right? Well what if the idea you came up with failed? Say it failed because of a certain thing you did that wasn’t meant to be there. You will use the experience from your failed attempt to change the way you approach the idea. This is using two skills to organize your idea so that you fix and change any flaws that may occur.

The Fun Of Video Production Blog A
My video project was something that I had a lot of fun doing. It gave me a chance to show my craziness out in the opening and let people see the things people feel in this world. The video project at first had me stumped mainly because I didn’t know how I was going to start it but once I got it the video production began.
I honestly believe that I could have gotten at least a B- in this project. I say this because it definitely showed that I worked really hard on it. I showed that my information is valid; I was able to talk about a positive thing. I interviewed three students and one mentor and discussed what they felt peer mentoring was and still explained what they meant to my viewers.
Two things that I could’ve done better was the sound on the first part of video and providing a good title that could grab your attention. Other than those components I believe that I did a Great job on this project.
Once again this project was awesome and I loved working on it. I wish that we can do another one of these projects. So I guess my only question for you is 1.) What is my grade? 2.) What does Peer Mentoring mean to you?

My Space Blog I
Studying for me is hard for me in many ways but one of the worst reasons why it is hard is because I can become very distracted from what I am doing at the time, especially if I was bored. So in order for me to completely keep my mind on my work is by being in a quiet place and having music in my ears. With these two components I will successfully study with no interruptions.
One place that I have found that gave me that sense of peace is over by the Lyman center all the way on the other side of the campuses. I choose this place because there isn’t anything so interesting that my eyes will be glued to it. It also shows that it has the brute of the sun shining in that area. I love the heat so I need a place where I can stay warm. It’s secluded so I don’t really hear or see a lot of people coming in and out of that area.
Honestly I don’t know if I really want to show you where it is but it’s so obvious you will find it anyways so I will tell you. Its located right next to Engelman where the parking lot is. As soon as you walk outside from the bagel wagon, you walk down stairs then take a left where the parking lot is. That area is where my study space is at.

My Moments of Triumph Blog B
According to dictionary.com creativity is the ability to transcend traditional ideas but I think creativity is more than that. To me it is the ability to transform your reality into new possibilities to further the future. The ideas, diagrams, and simulations we create in our minds gives us new creations in this society and world. Without the ability to be creative I feel that we would not have a set base to our ideas. They would be incomplete and unbalanced. That to me is the ability of creativity.
The first creative moment I had was when i was in foster care and was blessed with the chance to see a Forest Glade. I met this girl in the forest at the home I was in. She led me to this white beaten up piano. It seemed to still work. She asked me to play it but I never played the piano before so I was confused on playing it. She insisted that I play so I rubbed my fingers across the keys and felt something different. Next thing you know I was playing something beautiful on the piano. She then sat next to me and we combined the cords we played in order to create a beautiful melody.
The best idea that I have ever had was to listen to woman about how they see men as well as life. The reason the idea was good is because I was able to see through their eyes. See the answers to many questions men can’t answer. I was able to grow up and become a true man that will respect and love a woman the way they should be treated. We as men are blinded to many things because we chose to keep our eyes close to the opinions and ideas of others.
There are many forms of creativity and each form is contingent upon the person who is being creative. I do see myself as a creative person. Not just in the form of arts but in how I see and project things in life. My creativity allows me to help people and make a difference in the world. As children we see things in such a creative way. Even though I am getting older I still think in ways of a child because it is the roots to who I am today. Creativity is the power to make a difference through many possibilities.

Whats the Truth To Creativity V
Creativity to me is the ability to create new possibilities in the world as well as your own life. I say this because without the creative mind we will not be able to connect our ideas to the point where it has a set form. It kind of reminds me of when I was younger. I could walk to a place and create a whole world with just the thought of my mind. Creativity gave me the ability to paint a new picture to my life.
As I got older I was able to take that ability and compress it in an idea that can help people. My eyes began to open to the different possibilities of the world. We as people may not know what the future would be like but we do have the ability to use creativity to make decisions that may lead us to a future that we may want.
I believe we should use our creativity to create a change in this world. Not just a change that will benefit one’s own ideas but a change that can completely alter our reality to the peaceful and loving world we so desire.
Two other words that I learned was Influence and Capacities.
Capacities is the ability to recieve and to contain
Influence is something that effects the decision you decide to make.

Creativety is the Painters Thought Blog I
One thing that I did on campus that was creative was make my Video project. It was loads of fun because my brother and I pretty much went up to random people and asked if they wanted to be a part of the video. The way they looked at us when we first asked was really funny and became the highlight of the day.
First we both went to the SOP office and asked if they had any peer mentors around. At first they couldn’t find one but then one walked in at the right time. They asked her if she would like to talk to us. When she came over we asked if she would like to star in a small video. She smiled and said yes. Then we went to the front of Engelmann where it all started.
As you saw in the video I went up to a random guy and asked if he wanted to be a part of the video. Of course he said yes but the funniest part about it was what his response was before he agreed. As soon as my words do you and video entered my lips the first thing he said was beep (curse word) then agreed to help. Another funny part was when we went up to this girl on her phone. I walked up to her and stared at her. She looked up started laughing and said if she was in my way. I told her no and that I needed to talk to her. She looked very confused but decided to talk to me. She hung up her phone then I asked her if she wanted to be a part of the video. She said yes and so that began as well.
The last part was my brother who wanted to be in the video. His was funny too because he refused to put his cup of fake jello shot down and how he was passing back and forth wondering what he was going to say in the video. It took awhile before he finally was ready.
I did this project because it was a midterm for my INQ class. It was loads of fun and I really enjoyed it. Over all the Video making went well. I was able to connect and meet new people on campus as well as create something that could possibly help many people out. I would love to do another one.

Critical Thinking Blog V
According to Dictionary .com Critical thinking is “disciplined thinking that is clear, rational, open-minded, and informed by evidence” but to me critical thinking is more than just rationalizing things. I believe that everyone who thinks critically in some way are all connected. When arguments occur people explain their feelings on a certain issue, but what they don’t realize is that each person’s thoughts actually are a piece of what needs to be done in order to fix the issue. In my Blog A I explained that critical thinking is a way to organize thoughts and combine both arguments into one. What I was saying was that in critical thinking a person personal view is different from another but almost every time each person’s view has an idea that can help in the issue.
I remember in high school I had to do a paper about the death penalty. I had to decide if I was for it or against it. I was against it but my teacher was for it. My teacher and I started to discuss why we feel the way we felt about it. He was for it because it can strike fear in the criminals that are about to plot to do something and it will reduce more crimes. He believed that the people who do the most gruesome things to kill should be killed so that they don’t have the chance to do it again. I understood what he was saying. I then explained my side. I talked to him about an eye for an eye situation and told him that it will never solve anything. He looked at me and said you know what you are right. He stilled believed what he believed but I at least let him see both sides of the spectrum.
That being said Critical thinking is a way to openly listen to both sides of an issue in order to find pieces of things from both sides to combine and use to fix an issue. This way both arguments are acknowledged and used to make a brighter future.
Two other words that I learned this week was Trailblazer and implore.
Trailblazer means pathfinder. A person who finds the set path that will lead them into finding the career choices for them.
Implore means to beg.

(Final Blog) Hard Work and Determination Creates the Whole Nation
When looking at my midterm grades I was disappointed with myself and I knew I could’ve done way better. Seeing those grades gave me an eye opener to what is not only expected from the university but also expected in order to succeed in life. For me to get the grades I got made me understand that I have been being too lenient in my work, but also motivated me to work even harder. Not only to just pass but truly succeed in the class with good grades. In two of my classes I could clearly see that right now I am not where I know I could be at. I admit I did struggle at first with understanding fully what was being asked of me in my assignments. One thing I do know though is that I refuse to quit. I will change that grade into the grade I know I am capable of getting.
I have also had some successes. In my English class I continue to impress my professor when it came to my essays. She really enjoyed what I had to say on many topics as well as the stories I created with some of the other papers. In my math class I am showing great progress, by raising my hand in class and answering questions and solving problems on my own. Even though I am not perfect I am trying to do all that I can to succeed in my classes. Even in the ones I struggled with the most. In order to correct the mistakes I made with my math class I took the initiative to sign up for all the tutoring sessions given to us, go to all of my teacher's office hours, and asking my classmates who understand the work and getting good grades to help me, so that I may pass my next test. I have a chance to make it and I will make it by any cost. In math, practice makes perfect, so I will practice my butt off until I get the grade I not only want but know I could get.
In my INQ class I decided to ask some of my classmates who are good at blogging to help me with my blogs so that I may post a blog that my professor is looking for, one that will meet all the requirements needed in order to get a good grade in it. I know that I could make it in this class. It’s just a matter of hard work effort and help from people who want you to succeed. For the next semester I now know that if I want to succeed in my classes I must use all the resources given to me. Not just the resources given to me by the teacher or the DRC office but also the help from friends who are willing to help you. If I am struggling with something I must be clearer in what I am asking help with. In other words, when I knew I was struggling with blogging the first thing I should’ve done was ask the teacher what she was looking for in all. How many blogs and how the format is supposed to be.
So next semester I will make sure I understand what is being asked and if I need help to use all the resources given to me to clarify and help me with whatever I need help with. Success indeed comes from hard work and determination. Even though I can’t change the fact that I got the two grades, I can change the decisions I make in order to change those grades to better grades. Always work hard and never slack, because if you do the things you wish to accomplish may become failures in a flash of an eye.

Who's That Critical Thinker Blog A
Critical thinking gives many cognitive and intellectually skills to identify, analyze, and evaluate the truth in certain claims and arguments. Critical thinking helps organize personal opinions and issues between two people in order to come up with some conclusion to their arguments. It also helps you make reasonable, intelligent decisions that will greatly affect you and others around you.
A critical thinker has an open mind to the different possibilities of things. Not so much as thinking outside of the box but more taking what is already being said and thinking of scenarios of what would happen if they applied it in a certain way. So to me a critical thinker is more thinking of the bigger picture of an issue rather than limiting it to one aspect of that certain issue.
Critical thinking is important because it helps people as a whole with understanding, creating, and criticizing arguments that can change the world. It is also important because it helps working men and women by helping them solve problems, think creatively, and communicate their ideas to their co-workers.
Critical thinking is beneficial to everyone in many ways, whether it’s in problem solving, voicing opinions, create ideas, preventing disasters, fixing mistakes, and organizing issues in order to come together with a conclusion or agreement to any issues that may occur. Critical thinking has also helped me in many ways as well. In my English class all we do is think critically. We had to think critically when writing essays in a narrative formative, argumentative form, or any of the styles of writing.
I remember we had to write a compare and contrast essay about an issue of our chose. I choose to do my essay on music and its influence on children. I had to think in a critical way in order to not only voice my thoughts about the topic but also give valid and supportive arguments of why I felt the way I did about the issue.

The highest point in which you perfect or closely perfect a certain skill is what many people believe is mastery. To me I believe that becoming a master at something means you advance that skill to an even higher height, using the skill to create a new form it. Mastery isn’t just simply mastering something and being known as the person to accomplish that. What you don’t realize is that the state and form in which you mastered that task or skill may not be perfected because it needed that extra push. Thing is sometimes, matter of fact most of the time it isn’t meant for you to master it. The next generations to come will always add more to what you started and make it even stronger or better then what you made. Don’t take it as a bad thing though because without you the bases would have never been thought about. Mastery is created through the generations not just from one person but many people create a masterpiece. Mastery is formed through a union of generations all adding their own input and ability. That to me is what mastery is.
One word that I learned in the work we have done was transcendant. It is the state in which you rise above or go beyond. So to be transcendant you are a person who went far beyond the limits of a person skills. The second word I learned was reverential. It is characterized as the word reverance which is a feeling or attitude of deep respect for something.

Sotomayors book was an uplifting yet exciting book to me. It taught you the values of hard work and overcoming obstacles in order to achieve your goals. Yes many things may come in your way to try to discourage you but if you keep a level head and fight for what you believe in and want you will make it through your life the way you wanted it to be. In the book Sotomayor was discussing to us the struggles she had with her life. Losing her father from alcohol ultimately made a big impact on her as well as her mother, causing her mother to go into a deep depression. She tried everything she could to take care of her mother as well as herself. Another obstacle that constantly tried to hinder her abilities to succeed was her own illness, in which she obtained at birth, but she didn’t stray from her goal. She knew what she could become and fought to make that possible. Now that I’m done with the introductions, I would like to tell you about my six word memoir.

The blogger that I choose to talk about in my Blog that I believe is A work is “Live, Love , Laughs” blog. I choose her blog because it kind of described the meaning of failure similar to the way that I did. First of all she discussed how failure can make you or break you. It can either drive you to fight harder to get better or make you feel unaccomplished, which makes you break down and quite. One thing that I loved that she said is that society cannot put failure into a category; this is because it is hard to label the word failure on a set of scales. The reason it cannot be measured is because they see failure as one set thing, while many people describe failure in different ways. In fact “Live love laughs” blog described failure from more than one point of view, which to me shows that she didn’t just take this subject and stayed in a simple minded state. She took it a step further. She was simply taking the premises of the issue and linked it to many scenarios then connected those scenarios into what she thought failure meant. To pretty much sum this all up. I believe that she was thinking of failure as something that has no time limit, no discrimination towards anyone. It is something that affects everyone in its own way, and because of that it makes it hard to just say that failure is amounted to a size in scales. It kind of reminds me of what I said in my own blog. Without effort and practice, failure is assured to you but strength comes from the person who efficiently works hard to overcome failures”. What I was trying to say was yes we all have our failures but in order to determine if we truly failed is all up to the individual. It’s up to whether you are dedicated enough to overcome your failure or to let it take you over. I felt that Live Love Laugh point not only described failure but also let you understand in a more personal aspect of what failure also meant to her.

In this involvement piece I admit that it was hard for me to find a lecture that I participated this week. I found one actually. I am a student who has a disability and because of this disability I have to go to an appointment every Thursday around 9:00am at the DRC office to discuss my progress in my classes. I told one of the members named Mrs. FareChild that I was struggling in two courses in particular. Our discussion was pretty much finding ways to help me improve in these classes. She advised me to talk to professors for help and staying for office hours, so that my grades may go up. Three important things she told me was that she believes that the reason why it was hard for me to catch up is because one Instead of asking questions that will ensure my understanding of the work I just go with the first thought of what the professor means and role with that. The second thing she believes hinders me is the fact that when I see something I don’t understand at first I shut down and say I can’t do it. The final point made was for me to make sure that I am using all the resources that is needed to help me.

Many people have their own views on what failure is to them. In some cases you may think that the state of failing is when you prove unsuccessful. So a lot of times it discourages a person in believing that they lost, but to me failure isn’t just proving unsuccessful. To me the true state of failing is unraveled when you lose faith in yourself and quite. I say this because if you keep trying you can eventually learn to succeed in what was difficult for you but if you quite you all together stopped all possibility of accomplishing your obstacles. True failure is in the person’s will power not in the fact that they messed up and was unsuccessful. If you proven to yourself that you can’t continue, then yes you failed but if you keep trying failure will be nothing but a memory. Never quite and keep fighting because if you do failure will not even be an option in your life.
Other then knowing what failure is I also learned one other vocab word in this lesson. One of the words I learned was innate. Innate pretty much means something existing within you from birth. Its kind of like saying that you were born with the talent to a certain skill. So in that case you had the innate ability to do this skill without much training or help.

In class last week we discussed about how gritty a person was. Being gritty is how much time and how efficient are you when it comes to studying for a class which can effect what happens in your class. It exploits your cognitive skills to make you aware of the things you do to be successful in class. For me I know that I am good at many things when it comes to my work like being able to speak but there are times where I mess up. The areas I mess up in are the areas of time management. So yes I personally do handle my work but because I wasn’t gritty enough to do it before hand I ended up finding myself trying to do it last minute. As for this week, we have been discussing about making mistakes. Are we able to make mistakes and is there room to do so. I believe that yes we can make mistakes in our lives or in school but what we do to fix that mistake is on ourselves. If we just sit there and accept the mistake and never do anything to change our mistake we will just fail. But if we perform in a gritty way we may not only fix our mistakes but also succeed in all that we wish to succeed. These two components work as a team to help us in everything we do. It's not just a matter of what we decide to do to make it better but being able to make mistakes and use our Gritty skills to fix that mistake. Being gritty helps us to change our failures to success. Without effort and practice, failure is assured to you but strength comes from the person who efficiently works hard to overcome failures.

Let Failure Be your Strongest Link
Blog A

Failure is the state in which you are unsuccessful in accomplishing a certain goal. Kids are the ones who take failure harder mainly because they feel they owe it to their parents to succeed. In many cases kids believe and feel that they can’t mess up. A lot of it comes from the way their own individual families treat them. It’s almost like they are afraid to mess up. In other cases kids are very successful so they feel pressured to continue to succeed. When they do mess up they are afraid of the outcome that may come next. Honestly there really isn’t a place to fail and feel like you still succeeded. Well there is one place but that place is unreachable at the time. Now yes even though failure hurts many people it also makes people stronger in some cases. For instance, when a boxer goes in the ring to fight he puts his all into winning. He uses his skills the best he/she could but still loses. Instead of taking that loss as the end of their career, they train harder to make themselves get better so when they do go back to fight they will be ready. Sometimes failure destroys our drive to go on but there are times where it just builds our confidence. Personally for me I believe that failure will at first harm a person because of their personally feeling of being embarrassed but eventually it will make anyone the most confident person. It all depends on the timing and person that is all. You know how some people say that failure is second to none in the face of admiration. That’s exactly the point. Sometimes it just a matter of learning from a mistake to gain happiness and feel pleased with yourself. So my advice to you is don’t let failure make you lose hope and feel like quieting. I say this because you never know how fast you may change and become the best at what you was bad at to begin with.

Before I graduated from High school I was a little scared at the fact that I was going to college. This fear came over me when I realized that I was going to a even greater chapter in my life. I was afraid that I might fail and pretty much took my mood and made it feel bad. When I got here I saw that it wasn’t as bad as I thought and convinced myself that I could do this. The thing is I still believe I can succeed in college but there have been some things that I have failed at since I started college. One of my mistakes was managing my time wisely to get my work done on time. I think many times I convince myself that I have all this time so I could just sit back and relax for a bit. Then next thing I know I am trying to quickly but make sure it’s right to make it on deadline. Ways I have been trying to stop this is by doing my homework as soon as I get out of class. I would head straight to the library so that I have no distractions. I know that at times I get tired and just want to take a nap but I feel I need to at least set an alarm to wake me up at an ample time to get my work done. This Blog is late right now and even though I have a reason for that, I am just going to just finish it now. After this I will do what I am suppose to do so that this may never happen again

Today was a memorable one. I say this because after I left from class I was told that there was a reunion for the UAP summer program students. It was like a whole party for us. When I got there I was surprised about how many people attended the party, especially since a lot of the students complained about how hard it was to pass the program. I am so glad I went because I got the chance to talk to some of the kids I became friends with before I made it to southern. We all created bonds with each other through helping each other with home work and when we had free time to relax. Yes the program taught us to be ready for the actually college experience but it also allowed us to create bonds and enjoy others company. I am truly glad I went to that program. Even though we were all students I felt like we were all just one crazy family and the awesome teachers were our aunts and uncles. Being with such a diverse group of students with many different personalities kept me at peace, even with all the work we had to do. UAP student’s rock!

The path Worth Working For In life we are all placed in a path where certain obstacles may try to come and temporarily knock you off track. Right now I am facing one of those obstacles. A challenge was placed before me where I needed to put extra effort into it in order to overcome it. The challenge that is placed before me is Blogging. Blogging is something I never had experience doing but I can grow to learn. At the time I couldn’t understand what I was doing wrong. Every week I presented a blog and it seemed as if every bit of effort I put into it, it wasn’t enough. I felt at one point I would never get it right, but you know what I refused to give up. I have a goal to make it to and I will do whatever it takes to succeed in this work. I decided to ask for help. I brought my issue to my Professor because she knew exactly what she is looking for. One thing I am not is a shameful person who’s afraid to ask for help. I also asked one of my classmates to help me in the process when I am not with my professor because she understands what was being asked for in the blogs. I know when I struggle in something, the only way to help me is by asking for some assistances. Blogging is not going to decided my life but it will decided if I pass this class and if asking for help is what it takes to make it I will surely ask for help as much as I can to succeed. I learned “what doesn’t kill you at first will only make you stronger”, but depending on what steps you take to overcome it, it can either make you or break you. So if you are struggling in anything in life, the best advice I can give is to keep fighting and ask for help because that extra push may be what you need to get back on track, so you can continue to walk the path that is destined for you.

(week 5) Success is Right Behind That Door
Tyquan Chardon Professor Guarino/Blog B Inq: 101 9/28/13 Time was always a major factor when it came to school. It was always about managing your time wisely to get your work done and to study for an exam or test. Well I decided it was time to watch and see how I utilize my time properly, in order to see if I was on the right track with my first year in college. I realized that I wasn’t managing my time properly and that it needed to change. After all history is made from the person who put the most time and effort into their work not the person who just did one thing and tried to flourish off of it. The study we discussed in class taught me to manage my time through a system that will work with my daily day. It taught me to set times in the day where I could sit down and do my work and studies. It also taught me that as a student i must make sure I stay on track with all deadlines whether in classes or in extracurricular activities because in doing this it will help me to become accustomed with being responsible as a student as well as a man trying to make a living in the world. I admit that I am not a really good person when it comes to being organized but this study showed me how much time i spend with the things that are important and helped me to understand that I need to make a change. I spend at most 21 hours working on my homework. Now yes it is a good amount of time but honestly I need to assert myself and spend even more time because I know where my weaknesses come from. One of the problems I have with my time is with sleeping. I understand why at times it’s hard for me to focus on my work because I wasn’t replenished physically to focus right. Sleeping a total of 25 hours a week is unhealthy and messes with your sense of focus. The study showed me that I need more sleep so I can be more focused on the work that is important to accomplish. This way i can get my work done earlier instead of rushing to meet deadlines. As a freshman in college I know I will make mistakes. One of the things that I need to work on is procrastination. I say this because I know that after classes I feel I need to just take a break from doing anything, so instead of doing what I’m supposed to do I decide to relax. Then time gets away from me and by the time I realize it I find myself trying to rush to get what needed to be done finished. What I am going to do for now on is remind myself why I am here in order to practice intrinsic motivation in order to motivate myself into getting my work done. I now know what it takes to accomplish my goals in this school. I finally woke up and I am ready to do what must be done to succeed these four years

Mirror Never Lies

The last four weeks I have been trying to formulate a way for me to progress better in this Inquiry class. Honestly it really has been hard for me. I am not entirely sure if it's because I do not understand what is being asked in the material or if it's simply because I have not had enough sleep. Either way I had to look in a mirror and ask myself how badly I wanted to succeed. I wanted it really bad and I still do. So I had to make a change in me, but before I can do that I must acknowledge my mistakes.
I have realized that I am terrible at creating blogs. My first thought of it was that this was going to be easy. All I had to do is write about my feelings about a topic. How hard can that be? Well it's completely different. This time I'm not just expressing my feelings. This time I am also tapping into the feelings of my viewers. There was no more easing my way through writing. I have been given a challenge and I accept it. Coming into this I was blinded to the fact that blogging had an order to how you present it, so without thinking I typed up things I felt about the topic without maintaining that order. This made me disappointments in myself. I am disappointed in how I have been so far in my work since the beginning of this class. I’m disappointed in the grades I have been receiving and many more. I know I have been on a rocky start but that’s not going to stop me. I will continue to fight and work hard until I get the grades I know I can get.
I have been trying many methods but the main thing I have been doing is asking for help. Instead of trying to tackle this alone, I decided to reach out to the people who are willing to help me. The most important person I asked to help me was my professor because she knows what she is looking for in these assignments and can give me the most support and help needed to complete it correctly. Another method I am going to start using is printing the topic instructions so that I can check off the questions that I have already answered. Then finally I will bring my blog to someone in my class or my teacher to proofread for me before I send it in. I know for a fact that this will help me with the mistakes I have made. I also know that there are many methods into helping me.
I have many long term goals for myself. Goals that will mold how I live in the future but right now I am only thinking of what I can do to succeed here. I now understand that if I want to get to my long term goals I have to take it a step at a time, and focus on passing my classes and graduating. I feel I will make it to my goal because now I know what I must do. Make sure that I am organized, complete work right away and utilize the resources given to me to help me succeed. Just like in the article that talked about the straight A method. It said "Capture, control, plan, and evolve the way I balance my work with my social life. Therefore I must capture a set organized plan to balance myself in my work in order to control when I get things done instead of racing to meet deadline, plan when to study and do home work, and evolve completely. If I follow this I know that it will ensure success for me. I know that asking for help and asserting myself will assure success for me. I want to succeed, and I will do whatever it takes to do so.

The Depths Of Our Will Power
Blog B 9/22/13
A couple of questions I had about the topic of the marshmellow project was, just because the result of a testing how can this insure their success when they come out into society? and lastly just because to kids were able to restrain from eating marshmellow does that give them the same level of success? These questions played in my mind because these are the things that need to be thought about in this generation?, To me just because two kids were given the same test and succeeded the same way doesnt mean they will show signs of the same success. Kid A couldve recieved the lesson completely different from Kid B which can change the outcome of experiment completely.
Lets say that the two kids who succeeded the testing went back to living their lives. Kid A learned that taking your time and waiting for something you want can possibly give you a better result in what you originally asked for but in place of that doesnt take the anituative to go get the things that are important, while kid B may be less impatient but still knows how to go get what he wants which the aggressive attitude can show great promises. Both the kids showed that in a testing they can perform well but in showing success out of a test their true way of living can either greatly harm them or better their lives. In this topic it all depends on the approach taken. Kid B knew that the calm and suttle approach will help him get the right result but knew how he truly handles a situation outside. Depending on how he uses his true approach he can do many great things and succeed greatly but if he was to use it the wrong way he can ruin what he worked so hard to build.
Kid A may have been suttle all along which helped him in this short term goal but in a long term situation he can be to suttle and lose the motivation to work hard. Thus kid A may also get frustrated because he doesnt know how to take the aggressive approach in a situation that may be needed.
That being said I do believe that "the power to resist temptation, to pass up desert, to endure an unpleasant experience, to defer satisfaction is in fact our greatest human strength" This quote was used in an article called (Resisting Training For Your Wil Power Muscles). John Tierney stated that our power to resist is just a form of mental energy. Its the same as saying that using skills you learned in a positive way for yourself as well as the world is all up to the person. Thats what i have been trying to tell you and ask your opinions about. I hope to know what you think and if you agree.

Wheres the Success In Waiting
Blog A 9/21/13
In my life I feel there was a need to wait for certain things. On the other hand though I also felt that I also needed a certain thing right away. In my opinion the things we choose to wait for are mostly very important to us. The one major question that is asked is How bad do we want it?, and can we wait to receive it? To me the things we feel we need right away are materialistic things like, video games, and toys. These are in fact the things that satisfy our interest(entertainment). These are also the things that mold the way we act depending upon what it is we want.
There was in fact a time where I had to practice delayed gratification. The time where I had to practice this skill is right now. I have been given the chose to either wait for my girlfriend and fight for our relationship, or move on and find someone else to be with. My girlfriend means the world to me so of coarse I will wait for her and show delayed gratification, mainly because she is very important to me. I believe that we as people will take that extra step and go the length for the things that are precious to us, but honestly there are many times where society has proven that delayed gratification is starting to become non-existent. The main reason for that is because technology has taken a hold of the minds and habits of all the young children and has then shaped how we live in our world. I have been asked many times if I believe that our society values delayed gratification or if we value instant gratification more. Before I answer that question I want to touch the topic first.
Think of instant and delayed gratification in ways of success. Imagine two students who was given the same assignment. Student A chose to go to the library and begin his research from a book while student B chose to go on Google to find his information. When they both presented their assignments they both received the same grade, but does that mean that they both obtained the same level of success. The level of success they gained together was on the assignment only but their views of what they learned was entirely different when practiced out in society. Because student A choose to show delayed gratification and took the time to research his work through searching for books, he was able to broaden his intelligence in many ways. He broadened his vocabulary, his understanding of the world, and Global concepts, while student B , who really didn't show delayed gratification and went straight to Google to gain information was limited in the amount of information he obtained.
So yes I do believe that as a group of individuals do value instant gratification more because technology has given us the ability to make our lives easier. We should learn to do more things without technology so we as people can connect with one another as well as with the world. That way we can expand our mindsets and concepts that are more beneficial to everyone, rather then just gratifying ourselves.

The light of the dissability
I often find myself trapped into a state where i am enjoying a set thing and in enjoying it i completely put myself into it. One activity that i was enjoying was known as special olympics. My job is to interact with students with disabilities and play sports with them like soccer, basketball, or track. I find so much joy in this job and would gladly be there when asked to be there. The smiles on these kids faces created peace in me and made me happy. The strength these young kids have is so admorable. They know they are different from other kids in many ways but they never let it drag them down. I have so much respect and joy with them and i feel so excited when i leave to go play a sport with them. Sometimes it gets hard, mainly because of three reasons.
1.) the first reason it can get hard is because there are times where they lose hope and get upset. The trick to work through that is by encouraging them. letting them know that they are doing great and never give up. this will build their confidence, allowing smiles to resurface again.
2.) The second reason why it is hard at times is because when your playing a sport with them you have to remember who you are playing with and can't play to rough. I remember i was playing with them at soccer. now thats my sport so i started getting into it. I smashed the ball hard. It flew right into one of the kids fourhead. I felt so bad but the kid ate the blow and kept playing. so it was hard to play because now im worrying about hurting any of them. The trick to work through that is by letting them play more, so i have to pass them the ball more and aviod trying to score.
3.) The third reason it can get hard is because there are times where they cant focus. When that happens they ignor what is being done and create hug amounts of noise. The way to work through this is by talking to them lightly and telling them to calm down and pay attention. There are times where you have to raise your voice alittle but not too much.
These kids are just like every other human being. They understand whats being said to them and have hearts that feel emotions as well. Many people treat kids with dissabilities like they are dismissive, but they are not. they are human just like you and me. They have feelings and its wrong to treat them like they cant do anything. I vouch for the dissability and i will continue to be by their sides. God blessed the world with these kids and i am so glad to help them live a life where they could just be themselves. I enjoy what i do and i will continue to persue it

The Day is Seized and Now I Can Reach My Dreams
Tyquan Chardon
Blog A
Seize the Day by "Shakespeare".
This quote is more connected to intrinsic motivation because mentally and spiritually you have to feel within yourself that you are ready for the days to come. Without that feeling you may feel like it is pointless to even try and might decide to give up. On another note if you can't get yourself to feel ready and motivate yourself in order to truly feel like its worth the try, you may have a person in your life who fights with you. Encouraging you to strive to get better, to keep fighting, and never give up. Thats where the extrinsic motivation comes from. Sometimes you need that extra push to help you get started with your days.
I remember the other day i was apart of a foot ball team and we had our first game. Our courter back was a great player but he seemed different this time. It was our first game and he was making bad plays and being pressured to make the wrong decisions. The whole team gathered and tried to talk to him. He said that he was nervous. We as a team cheered him on and encouraged him to fight. Our motivation gave him motivation as well as a fight spirit and he started to believe that he could do this. He needed that extra boost to help him feel stronger inside. He needed extrinsic motivation because he couldn't motivate himself to believe and know he was a good player and that he could do it.
In pertaining to fixed mindset Seize The Day could mean that in life there may be a set thing you are reaching for. The only way you can reach that point in life is by making the best of the day you are in as well as the days to come. You constantly feel like the only way to make the best of those days is by being perfect. It feels almost like you have the weight of the world on your shoulders. There is too much pressure on how you make it to your goal, that you are almost afraid to mess up or make a mistake. This quote doesn't want you to feel that way so it describes the mindset of Growth mindset.
Growth mindset is the ability to open your mind to the possibilities. Every experience and struggle helps you grow stronger in the things you need to do in your life to help you get to what you want in life. It helps you think of new ways to get to your goal. Seize the day is the very meaning of don't give up and keep trying, thats where growth mindset plays its part because you begin to understand that the only way to succeed in this world is to try your very hardest. If at first you don't succeed, you try again and soon you will learn from your mistakes, and correct them so that you may move forward.

Motivations curse becoming blessing. we as people believe that feeling good can create a sense of confidence in us to motivate us to be the best that we can be. The only problem though is that sometimes these praises that is used to motivate us can make us get carried away with ourselves.Their are such differences in how we praise a person that we dont quit understand yet so we never notice how we influence a person. There are times where we believe that the appearance of being educated is all you need to succeed in everything you do while others believe that success in education comes with hard work and determination. The thing is those two claims coenside with each other, they come hand in hand. For example. When you try to get a job you go through the interviewing process before you are handed the job. The things an employer is looking for is what you can bring to their bussiness. So at first sight they would check to see if you are dressed to part because first appearances means alot. then they ask you about your life, what experiences you had with a similar job, and what form of education you have. Yes the appearance of a working man or woman is important but also the managers confidence in how hard you work counts just as much. If i am willing to give you praise for what youve done and continue to do i should praise you on how much yo improved in your accomplishment. Everything we do in life doesnt eserve praise, sometimes we just need the truth. Praise me for how hard i worked not how long and my knowledge of the work but the effort i put into the work. Those are the feelings that are more worth wild and last far greater then a lifetime.
